COVIDPH tally as of April 15, 2020, 4:00 PM READ:

The DOH said 58 new patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 353.The country now has 5,453 confirmed cases as 230 new patients were recorded by the Health department. In a related development, Chinese medical experts that are currently in the Philippines said that the country is facing “a significant risk of not being able to completely cut off the source of the infection.

The assessment made by the 12-member team of Chinese health experts was based on a report by CCTV Asia Pacific. The health experts are suggesting that the Philippines should establish a “Fangcang hospital” immediately. These are makeshift hospitals that serve as an isolation facility for patients with COVID-19.

“Because of limited beds and testing capacity in the Philippines, many of the COVID-19 patients are still quarantined at home,” Weng Shangeng, head of the Chinese medical expert team, told CCTV Asia Pacific.“In this way, mild cases can be admitted to the hospital for observation so as to prevent the mild cases from becoming severe cases,” Weng said.

The Philippine government has already converted some public venues, including the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, into COVID-19 facilities called ‘We Heal as One Centers,’ while others are under construction by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
