The Department of Foreign Affairs says its Committee on Decorum and Investigation probed the complaint and that the ambassador has resigned from service since March 2020.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday, July 18, that it was committed to ensuring justice in a sexual harassment complaint lodged against a former Philippine ambassador to South Korea during his tenure.

The DFA said the Philippine embassy in Seoul received a sexual harassment complaint in February 2020 against the then Philippine ambassador to Korea when he was in Manila for official business. “The Ambassador subsequently tendered his resignation from the service effective March 16,” the DFA said. The DFA did not name the former ambassador but the last Philippine envoy to to Seoul was Ambassador Noe Wong, a retired military officer, who began his stint in South Korea in May 2019.
