A total of 1,430 seafarers working in different parts of the world arrived in the country in separate batches on Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. By 3 p.m.
, 1,165 seafarers planed in at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 in Parañaque City, before 265 more arrived later in the afternoon.
The seafarers, who had worked on Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival ships, arrived in four chartered flights originating from Frankfurt, London, Miami and New Orleans. Brigido J. Dulay, undersecretary for civilian security and consular concern at the Foreign Affairs Department, said a total of 11,000 overseas Filipino workers have been repatriated since February.
