Nitong Biyernes, ginawa munang pansamantalang hydration center ang covered gymnasium ng Maasin, Iloilo kung saan nakaratay ang mga may dengue na hindi naman kailangang i-admit sa pagamutan.
Kung tutuusin daw, nag-o-operate lang ang rural health unit mula Lunes hanggang Biyernes mula 8 a.m. hanggang 5 p.m. pero dahil sa lumolobong kaso ng dengue ay 24/7 na sila.
"Sa totoo lang talagang undermanned. Nane-neglect na ang barangay health station kasi pinapa-duty pati ang mga midwife dito," sabi ni Dra. Mae Albacete, municipal health officer ng Maasin. Ayon sa Department of Health sa Western Visayas, maayos ang kanilang protocol pagdating sa pagre-refer ng mga pasyente sa mga ospital. Ang malinaw, basta't walang warning sign ng sakit ay puwedeng manatili sa pangangalaga ng RHU o pauwiin sa bahay. Pero dahil mukhang magtatagal pa ang outbreak ng dengue sa rehiyon, nanawagan ng tulong sa ibang medical professional ang DOH-Region 6.
"Sa private physicians and also those who would like to volunteer their services, we need your help. It will help a lot to augment services to address the outbreak dito sa Region 6," sabi ni Dr. Rosemarie Lamirez, dengue medical coordinator ng DOH-6.
