Municipal voting day is Oct. 24
City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds residents that the deadline to register to vote from home is fast approaching. For more information, read the news release below:
The deadline to register to vote from home is Thursday, Oct. 13, at 4:30 p.m. If there are barriers preventing an elector from voting on advance vote day or on voting day , electors may register for a home visit to cast a ballot. During the Vote From Home program, an election team member will visit a registered residence to provide a ballot. The ballot is marked in the same way as if it were at a regular poll. An envelope system is in place to protect the secrecy of the vote. The ballot is placed in a sealed ballot box to be counted after the polls close on voting day.
A Voting from Home application form can be completed online here or by calling 705-989-5610. Once the application has been reviewed and accepted, a member of the elections team will contact the elector to schedule a home visit. Home voting will occur during the week of Oct. 17. Home voting is not available on voting day.
