The Durham District School Board is apologizing after a four-year-old student walked home alone from a Pickering school during lunchtime.
On Monday afternoon, the mother of the boy says she and her husband were sitting in their living room when their son opened the front door and said he had walked the 10-minute trip home by himself.DDSB issued the following statement The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We are taking this incident extremely seriously and are in the process of investigating what occurred. The school administration has taken immediate steps at the school level to address this and has put in place additional precautions to prevent something like this from happening again. We extend our sincere apologies to the family impacted by this incident.
