The Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao) has seized 881 loose firearms as part of its intensified campaign against illegal weapons, particularly ahead of the 2025 National and Local Elections and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) plebiscite. The firearms were confiscated between September 24, 2024, and February 9, 2025, and paraded on February 12th at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido in Davao City. PRO-Davao officials emphasized the ongoing efforts to prevent election-related violence and ensure public safety.

The Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao) has successfully confiscated 881 loose firearms as part of its ongoing campaign against the proliferation of illegal weapons. The firearms, seized between September 24, 2024, and February 9, 2025, were paraded on Wednesday, February 12, at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido in Buhangin, Davao City . Under the direction of PRO-Davao Regional Director Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Z.

Rosete, the firearms were obtained through various means including confiscation, capture, surrender, deposit, abandonment, or forfeiture (CCSDAF). A significant portion, 261, were seized during the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Gun Ban period from January 12 to February 9. The confiscated items include 213 small arms, six explosives, and 42 improvised or homemade firearms. These weapons are now securely stored at PRO-11’s Pulis Bagani Hall in Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido.Rosete emphasized that these seizures are a direct result of ongoing police operations and the strict enforcement of the gun ban, meticulously implemented to prevent election-related violence and ensure a peaceful 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) plebiscite. 'We remain fully committed to targeting individuals and groups involved in illegal firearms possession. Anyone found violating the gun ban will face legal consequences,' stated Rosete. He further highlighted the 'Revitalized Katok' initiative, a proactive program aimed at promoting responsible firearm ownership and discouraging the illegal possession of weapons to ultimately reduce crime. As the elections draw closer, PRO-Davao assures the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, collaborating closely with partner agencies to safeguard safety and security in the Davao region
