TIAONG, Quezon – Police arrested a 44-year-old farmer after three unlicensed firearms were discovered in his house during a search warrant operation on Thursday morning, September 14, in Barangay Behia, this municipality.
The suspect, Edwin Valencia, was collared by the Quezon Intelligence Unit, 1st Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company, 405th A Maneuver Company, and Tiaong police.
Police Col. Ledon Monte, Quezon police director, said Valencia yielded two caliber .45 pistols, a Carbine, magazines, bullets, spare grip cover, and holsters. Valencia is detained at the Tiaong Municipal Police Station and faces charges of violating Republic Act 10591 and the Comelec gun ban for the barangay elections next month.
Monte said they are stepping up the campaign against loose firearms for the people’s safety as the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections are fast approaching.
