A TOTAL of 935 police personnel were dismissed from the service due to involvement in illegal activities from January 2023 to August this year, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
It said it also leaves a powerful note that those who engage in unlawful activities and misdemeanors will face the appropriate consequences, including dismissal from the service when necessary. “The PNP remains steadfast to maintaining the trust and confidence of the Filipino people. As it continues its mission to serve and protect, the PNP aims to build a force that truly exemplifies integrity, honor, and dedication,” he added.
A ranking police personnel also tested positive for illegal drugs, resulting in his relief from office. “Sa ngayon ang ini-implement na natin ay ‘yung tinatawag nameless and faceless recruitment para maiwasan ‘yung palakasan system. Ayaw kasi natin na may papasok pa sa hanay ng pulis na may devious background kaya nga mas palalakasin ngayon ‘yung tinatawag nating character and background investigation kaya nga ‘yung national police clearance na matagal na nating inaadvocate ay talagang iimplement natin yan,” said Fajardo.
