The Philippine Commission on Elections (Comelec) plans to sell unusable precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines and voting equipment ahead of the 2025 elections.

The Commission on Elections ( Comelec ) is set to sell 'unserviceable' precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines and assorted paraphernalia ahead of Eleksyon 2025.In a memorandum issued Thursday, the Commission en banc adopted the recommendation of the Comelec Disposal Committee (CDC) to sell the unusable PCOS machines, vote counting machine (VCM) plastic bins with covers, ballots boxes, and plastic pallets currently stored in its warehouses in Manila, Las Piñas, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The committee recommended that the PCOS machines be sold to Microsphere System Technology for P12.26 million; and PCOS/VCM plastic bins with covers, yellow metal ballot boxes, and plastic pallets be offered to RHT Storage Center for P202,800. It likewise suggested the bidders to pull out the items upon full payment to Comelec.'The Commission, after due deliberation, resolved, as it hereby resolves, to adopt the recommendations of the CDC in the hereto attached and forming integral part hereof, CDC Resolution No. 03-2024 on the sale of unserviceable PCOS Machines, PCOS/VCM plastic bins with cover, yellow metal ballot boxes and plastic pallets of the Commission located at the SMED Building (PhilPost), Port Area, Manila, Sta. Rosa, Laguna warehouse and at the Office of the Election Officer - Las Piñas City,' the memorandum read. — VDV, GMA Integrated New
