NEARLY five million registered voters have been deactivated by the Commission on Elections , meaning they cannot cast their ballots in the May 2025 national and local polls.
In a statement, the poll body said majority of those deactivated failed to vote in two successive preceding regular elections as shown by their voting records. Other reasons for deactivation included loss of Filipino citizenship , sentenced by final judgment to suffer imprisonment for not less than one year , and sentenced by final judgment of having committed a crime involving disloyalty to the duly constituted government .More than half a million voters were also deactivated in the National Capital Region 618,121 and Central Luzon 503,297.
