Defining the News

Rear Admiral Andrew M. Sugimoto, Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Pacific Area, slammed China’s actions of ramming boats and deploying water cannons against Philippine vessels which he considers far from the “resolute measures” China claims them to be.

“It just doesn’t happen. Nor do we go around and taking water cannons, basically trying to flood out vessels and sink them. That is not what we call safe and professional operations,” he further remarked. Lin Jian, spokesperson for China Foreign Ministry, told the media that China vows to uphold “resolute measures” against the Philippine vessels and other countries who will attempt to go against their interest at the sea.
