Somerset Ward has been chosen for a pilot project that will give Ottawa residents an alternative to calling 911 in cases such as mental distress or substance use.
The project by the Ottawa Guiding Council for Mental Health and Addictions aims to provide a non-police response for people who are in crisis and is expected to launch in the spring of 2024. The service will be available around the clock and will bring responses within minutes, Somerset Ward Coun. Ariel Troster said Tuesday.THIS CONTENT IS RESERVED FOR SUBSCRIBERS ONLYExclusive articles from Elizabeth Payne, David Pugliese, Andrew Duffy, Bruce Deachman and others.
