A 37-year-old driver was killed and his co-worker injured when their vehicle plunged off a cliff in Asturias town, Cebu province, on Thursday afternoon, January 30th. Police identified the driver as Jefferson Alloso, who was surveying an area for power line installation. The accident occurred on a slippery road due to rain.
A 37-year-old driver tragically lost his life, while his co-worker sustained injuries, after their vehicle careened off a cliff in Asturias town, Cebu province, on Thursday afternoon, January 30th. Police identified the deceased as Jefferson Alloso, the driver of an owner-type jeep owned by Cebu Electric Cooperative Inc. (Cebeco) III. The injured individual was identified as 29-year-old Bryan Villahermosa, an electrician employed by the company.
Also present in the vehicle were Villahermosa's fellow electrician, Christian Gentapa, aged 33, and Arnel Arnaiz, the barangay captain of Lanao, Asturias. Gentapa and Arnaiz miraculously escaped the accident unharmed.Senior Master Sgt. Bendie Nuñez, the investigator assigned to the Asturias Police Station, stated that the incident occurred while the group was conducting a site survey as part of a plan to install power lines in the barangay. Alloso was navigating an uphill section of the road when the vehicle's front wheel skidded on a slippery patch. This loss of traction caused Alloso to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in it plummeting into a 10-foot deep ravine. Tragically, the driver was trapped beneath the wreckage. Police reported that the road surface was treacherous due to persistent rainfall. The remote location of the accident significantly hampered rescue efforts, delaying the victims' extraction.
