The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CCDRRMC) has intervened to prevent a private developer from closing the only access road for over 200 residents of Purok 6 in Barangay Apas. The CCDRRMC cites safety concerns and the need for emergency access, especially for vulnerable residents.
THE Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council has urged a private developer not to close the only access road used by more than 200 residents of Purok 6 of Sitio San Miguel, Barangay Apas, due to safety concerns .Residents living in Lots 938-A and 938-B sought the intervention of the City Government after Altarica Development Corp., the new owner of the property, announced plans to close the road right-of-way that provides them access to the main street.
The matter was also endorsed to the City Assessor’s Office and the City Planning and Development Office for further assessment and evaluation. In a letter dated Jan. 24, and addressed to Mayor Raymond Garcia, over 90 residents appealed against the planned road closure and installation of a gate. They requested that a passage for four-wheeled vehicles be allowed and suggested issuing a sticker gate pass for one vehicle per household to control traffic.
