Holland Hurricanes fullback Hayden Chaisson practises kicking the ball at the Credit Union Place Dome in Summerside. Chaisson, from St. Louis, P.E.I., participated in a recent media conference announcing the Hurricanes will host the 2023 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association women’s soccer championship at Eric Johnston Field in Summerside from Nov. 8 to 11. Chaisson plays summer soccer in Summerside and is looking forward to playing the nationals on her home field.SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I.
“Just to play on my home field, it’s going to feel a lot more comfortable nerve-wise and help us feel more at home,” Chaisson told SaltWire Network in an interview following a recent media conference at the Credit Union Place Dome announcing the details of the national championship. “That was a very cool experience,” said Chaisson. “It was my first time competing at a national event.
Holland College director of athletics and recreation Albert Roche said it’s been a long time in the making. “These opportunities to come to Summerside will be something we will be looking at in the future as well,” said Roche.
