The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has successfully leased over 100 residential units in Camp John Hay, Baguio City, within a short timeframe. The majority of these leases were awarded to South Korean nationals, highlighting the property's appeal to international investors.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority ( BCDA ) announced on Tuesday that it has signed over 100 residential lease agreements at Camp John Hay in Baguio City within just two months. The agency revealed that these leases, encompassing 95 percent of the residences in the popular tourist and commercial hub, were awarded to foreign nationals, primarily from South Korea. All contracts are expected to be finalized this month.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang expressed his delight at the overwhelming response from investors, stating that their support and trust reflect their recognition of BCDA's ability to transform state-owned land into spaces that contribute to the nation's progress. Bingcang emphasized that the agency remains committed to placing people and the planet at the forefront of all redevelopment projects at Camp John Hay. This announcement comes in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision on January 6th, which ruled in favor of BCDA's ownership and management rights of the 247-hectare property, including all new constructions and permanent improvements. The ruling ended a prolonged legal battle between BCDA and its former operator, CJH Development Corp. Since regaining control, BCDA has secured over P1 billion in new investments for Camp John Hay, creating new economic opportunities for the local community. The property is now home to a diverse mix of tenants, including major industry players such as Metro Pacific Investments Corp. subsidiary Landco Pacific, Stern Real Estate, and Amare La Cucina, as well as small- and medium-sized enterprises like Golfplus Management, DuckWorld Philippines, and Top Taste Trading. BCDA has also announced plans to revisit the property's master development plan to ensure its alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
