By the time fire crews arrived at a house fire on Kincaid Street Wednesday morning, flames were already shooting through the roof, according to the Burnaby Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to the 3700 block of Kincaid Street at about 11 a.m. for reports of a structure fire, according to assistant fire Chief Derek Masaro.“Flames had spread up into the attic, through the roof,” Masaro said. There were no injuries, but the blaze did “extensive damage” to the rear of the unit where the fire started, rendering that residence uninhabitable, according to Masaro.
The silver lining – for the neighbours at least – was that firefighters managed to keep the flames from spreading to the other half of the duplex. In all, 10 trucks responded to the two-alarm blaze.Follow Cornelia Naylor on Twitter @CorNaylor
