Pizza Garden restaurant workers and owners are all Turkish and are helping to mount a massive relief effort for the quake-struck country, including donating $1 from every pizza sold.
Staff at a local business on the Coquitlam-Burnaby border have other things on their mind today beside making Neopolitan-style pizza.
"Once a day, we talk to our family, because there is no internet, electricity or gas. We have so many of the families affected by this earthquake, so much is destroyed and demolished." Funds are being used to purchase supplies, which are being boxed in an industrial warehouse in Vancouver and sent via Turkish Airlines to Istanbul.
