British Open canceled for 1st time since World War II due to virus

"We appreciate that this will be disappointing for a great many people around the world but we have to act responsibly during this pandemic and it is the right thing to do."The British Open is the latest high-profile tournament to be axed because of the virus.have been pushed back a year until 2021.

The Open, which started in 1860, was also previously not held from 1915 to 1919 because of World War I. The PGA Championship, which was initially due to be held in May, is now set to be staged from August 6-9 at Harding Park in San Francisco.
