MUMBAI , India — Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was stabbed during an encounter with an intruder at his residence early Thursday morning and underwent surgery at a hospital, according to media reports. The 54-year-old actor was transported to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, India's financial and entertainment hub, where he resides with his actress wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two sons.
Two of the six wounds inflicted on Khan were described as deep, one of which was located near his spine, Press Trust of India cited a doctor at Lilavati Hospital as saying. Indian media reported that the intruder broke into the house around 2:30 a.m. and fled the scene after stabbing Khan. A female employee at Khan's home was also injured during the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment, police stated.Authorities are actively investigating the incident and have launched a search for the attacker. Kapoor released a statement confirming that her family was unharmed and appealed to the media and fans to refrain from speculation, emphasizing that the police were diligently conducting their investigations. Khan, who is also a successful film producer, has a prolific career spanning nearly 70 films and television series. He is the son of former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore. His exceptional talent in Hindi cinema has earned him numerous accolades, including seven Filmfare Awards. In 2010, Khan was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India
