College of St. Benilde survived a late fightback from Arellano and held on to a 72-66 victory to stretch its winning run to three in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, on Sunday, Oct. 15.

A putback from Prince Carlos broke the tie before Migz Oczon drained a long three-pointer to give CSB a 66-61 cushion. The Chiefs scored on a quick deuce but free throws from Carlos and Mark Sangco kept a 68-63 advantage for the Blazers. Arellano, however, refused to go down without a fight as Troy Valencia buried a triple to come within two with 19.9 left. The Chiefs then completed a steal on the inbound play but failed to convert from point blank range.Oczon led the Blazers with 16 points while Carlos had an all-around game of 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Valencia had 19 points but were not enough as the Chiefs absorbed their second straight loss for a 1-6 record in the standings.
