San Sebastian banked on the stellar performance of Raymart Escobido to take down Emilio Aguinaldo College, 86-70, in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Escobido put up a season-best performance of 23 points – 15 of which came in the second half, highlighted by a personal 6-0 run from a booming triple and an and-1 play to give the Stags a 70-52 cushion early in the final frame.
Jessie Sumoda added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while James Una had 13 points and seven boards. The Stags, however, easily shrugged off the rally with Sumoda and Alex Desoyo burying back-to-back long bombs to restore order, 84-67, with 1:37 left in the game.
