Binay: Makati shoulders cremation of deceased COVID19 patients

MANILA - Makati Mayor Abby Binay said Tuesday her city has set up a crematorium for cadavers of residents who died due to the coronavirus disease 2019 .

Binay said in an interview on ANC that her administration has established a crematorium "in anticipation of mortalities caused by COVID-19". She added that the city government will shoulder the cremation of deceased COVID-19 patients who lived in Makati."Very manageable po 'yung number ng aming deaths sa loob ng city. We all have been able to comply with the 12-hour rule by the DOH," Binay told ANC, citing the health department's order that bodies of deceased coronavirus patients should be cremated within 12 hours of their death.

She earlier said in a statement that "the city government wishes to show its support and compassion for the family of the deceased by shouldering the cremation expenses."The country's financial hub has reported at least 177 COVID-19 patients as of Tuesday.
