BACOLOD City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez ordered Bacolod City Police Office director Joeresty Coronica to prosecute, pursue and arrest barangay officials found involved in illegal drugs.“There’s no sacred cow here. If there’s evidence that they are involved in illegal drugs, the police should arrest them,” Benitez said.Coronica earlier said they are now validating and monitoring the barangay officials who are allegedly involved in the operation of illegal drugs in Bacolod City.

Based on the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council report, Coronica said some of the barangay officials are not consistent on their lists because some of the drug personalities being monitored within their barangays are not included on their lists. 'It's like they're hiding something. The barangay officials should have an active support for the police to address the illegal problems in the city,' he said. Over the weekend, an estimated P1.
