MANILA, Philippines -- China urged the Philippines to 'stay committed' to the one-China principle and 'be prudent regarding the Taiwan question, an official said this week.National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano said in a statement that the Philippines had opened a Coast Guard post in the country's far north to boost security following China's 'military build-up' near Taiwan over the past two years.
China's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin told a news briefing that he was not familiar with 'China's military expansion' near Taiwan.This is not the first time that China has called the attention of the Philippines over the One-China policy.In 2022, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, reminded the Philippine government to adhere to the One-China policy amid reports that US Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit the country on her way to Taiwan.
