The Bago City government has begun developing a relocation site in Barangay Napoles for the 23 evacuees affected by the eruption of Mount Kanlaon . Dr. Merijene Ortizo, head of the Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said on Monday that the delivery of native houses, commonly known as bahay kubo, is part of the city's initiative to support the evacuees. The relocation site is located on a 2,000-square-meter lot owned by the city government, Ortizo added.
The City Engineer’s Office has also begun developing the site, including the construction of an access road, communal toilets, and a community kitchen. Ortizo mentioned that the city government has requested additional funding from Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, to support the development of sanitation and cooking facilities for the area.
