Police forces in the Mimaropa region have been mobilized to assist in the government response on the oil spill that has so far affected 63 tourist sites in the country. ManilaBulletin
Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police , said the regional director of Police Regional Office 4B, which covers the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan were tasked to assist in the ongoing multi-sectoral containment and clean-up operations along the coastline of Mindoro Oriental and other areas affected by the oil spill.
“The STG tasked the APC Southern Luzon and Visayas to implement this directive and the DPCR to conduct awareness campaign pertaining to the oil spill to thousands of residents now directly affected by the oil spill that has spread across a wider area of the province and nearby islands,” said Azurin.
Aside from direct assistance in the clean-up drive, Azurin said the local police forces are also under strict instructions to ensure order and security in government- initiated relief program in hardest-hit communities.
