LOOK: As a tribute to fallen health workers who were at the frontline in the fight against COVID-19, a Filipino artist has sketched their portraits.
Aurelio Castro III told Manila Bulletin that the portraits are his personal expression of gratitude to the frontliners who died serving the country.
Castro, a musician and a visual artist, would usually paint famous landmarks, old houses, streets, and people as he roams around Metro Manila aboard his bike. But because of the enhanced community quarantine, he was unable to continue location sketching. The artist said he started sketching the fallen frontliners first week of April. After his artwork went viral, some of the fallen health workers’ families are messaging him on Facebook, thanking him for immortalizing their loved ones, at least in art.
