Anthony Davis expressed his gratitude to Los Angeles in a farewell message to his adopted city on Monday following his unexpected trade to the Dallas Mavericks . In his first public statement since news broke of his move from the Los Angeles Lakers to Dallas in exchange for Slovenian star Luka Doncic , Davis characterized the deal as a simple matter of 'business.
' The Doncic-Davis trade is widely considered the most surprising transaction in NBA history, a remarkable coup orchestrated with utmost secrecy that left everyone stunned and caught off guard.On Instagram, Davis shared his joy at having secured an NBA championship for the Lakers during the pandemic-affected 2020 season. He also extended his condolences, saying, 'My family and I thank everyone who made this place home and we are still thinking of those that lost their homes in the fires,' alluding to the devastating blazes that swept through parts of the city last month.
