Actress Aleck Bovick discusses the controversy surrounding her Best Actress win, her early career as a sexy star, and the challenges she faced with her father's disapproval. She also addresses body shaming she has experienced and reveals her plans for future roles.
Aleck Bovick 's victory as Best Actress for her film 'Tampisaw' sparked controversy. At only 17 years old, it was her debut film, and she faced off against established actress Ara Mina . While Aleck is now recognized for her villainous roles in television series, she initially rose to fame as a sexy star.
During an episode of the cooking talk show 'Lutong Bahay' hosted by Mikee Quintos, Aleck revealed that while her mother supported her acting aspirations, her father found it challenging because she was only 17 and the themes of her films were sensual. 'My dad almost sued,' Aleck shared. 'My daughter is only 17,' her father reportedly exclaimed. However, Aleck's strong desire to pursue acting led to conversations with her father until he eventually gave his consent. In her first film, 'Tampisaw,' she immediately won the Best Actress award, competing against Ara Mina. Mikee asked Aleck if there was truth to the rumour of a feud with Ara after the win because Ara allegedly said Aleck didn't deserve the award. 'That's extreme,' Aleck responded playfully. But according to Aleck, it wasn't true. 'She just made a comment, not directly... like she wished someone else had won,' she explained. Looking back on her early foray into acting, Aleck mentioned that her ambition to attain her dreams gave her the courage to take on daring roles. Upon her return to showbiz after a hiatus, Aleck admitted that she became more self-conscious due to weight gain. She also revealed that she had faced criticism about her current physique, which differed from her younger self.Aleck stated that she addresses and confronts these bashers. 'Don't be like that... body shaming is unacceptable here. Maybe I'll see your profile, your appearance, and maybe I'll say something too,' she shared about her responses. Aleck said that she finds strength and encouragement from the support of her other followers. Does Aleck now accept her body? 'I love my body and myself,' she said. 'But sometimes, it's also important for health.' 'Because you need to understand and accept yourself. You can't say I'm thin even if I'm not. You can't say I'm super rich, even if I'm not. So you need to accept yourself and then figure out how to improve,' she explained. Aleck shared that she surrounds herself with friends and the right people who can offer advice and support. However, if she were to take on a sexy role again, who would she want as a leading man, and who would she avoid working with due to 'attitude'? Watch the video to find out the actress's answers
