DURING The Manila Times' 2025 Economic Forum on Thursday, a common theme that emerged in the discussions among our esteemed panelists was the need to further strengthen the Philippines' domestic economy in order to maintain growth in the face of rapidly increasing global uncertainty. This, of course, is a message that we have shared often, and it is encouraging that the experts share this view.World Bank lead economist Gonzalo Varela summarized it well.

7 billion in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources; P2.1 billion in the Department of Agriculture; and about P1.9 billion in projects with the Department of Trade and Industry. The remainder is spread out across other government agencies and local government units, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Department of Finance and the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
