For this year, Councilor Em Ang, who authored an ordinance declaring the third week of August as Rum Festival, said the week-long event features a master class for rum appreciation and teaching of various ways on how it can be used in cocktails and food. Since the main ingredient of rum is sugarcane, a primary product of the province, and the most widely produced rum is from here, Ang said that it is proper to also promote this city by featuring products that are here. She said that the event is already becoming one of the most sought-after festivals here.
Ang said the festivity was intended to promote tourism, provide a venue for showcasing artistic talents, preserve culture, and enhancing cultural appreciation.
