Three Filipinos and two Australians were reported missing after the motor boat they were riding reportedly sunk midway between Hinunangan and Loreto towns in Southern Leyte Sunday morning.

A report reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City stated that the Australians and their companions were supposed to go on fishing off the waters of Dinagat Island when the motorized boat they were riding in encountered mechanical problems.

The report identified those missing as Graham David Hastings, 60; a certain Don Cox; and their companions Jay-Ar Adanza, 19; Serecio Adanza, 40: and boat operator Michael Samatina. The victims reportedly came from Barangay Tahusan in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte. It was before dawn when they left on a motor banca and headed to Loreto, Dinagat Island for leisure fishing.

The incident was reported by a certain Kelvin Monton to the local disaster and management council after one of those on board was able to call for assistance.
