THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Wednesday said about 27 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were rescued after being duped into working for an illegal online financial and phishing company in Cambodia.
The agency said it deployed a team on Monday to assist in the repatriation of the OFW trafficking victims.
Report from the DMW said Filipino victims entered Cambodia as tourists as early as January this year and were informed that they will be working as tech support representatives but were forced to work in an online scamming facility in the O'Smach District located near the Thai border. The victims were rescued with the help of the Cambodian National Police on Sept.
