Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has issued an urgent appeal to various government agencies, including the Department of Migrant Workers , Department of Foreign Affairs , and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration , to conduct immediate action to account Overseas Filipino Workers affected by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The senator also appealed to OFWs to ensure their safety by coordinating with the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv. The Presidential Communications Office has also released a statement on President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s directive to DMW and OWWA to locate and account for all OFWs and their families in Israel.
The senator is a long-time advocate of OFW welfare. He was one of the authors and co-sponsors of Republic Act No. 11641, which created the DMW.
