21 Filipinos in UAE have died due to COVID19: envoy

MANILA - A total of 21 Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates have succumbed to the coronavirus disease , Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn Quintana said Wednesday."I regret to inform that about 17 sa Dubai at apat po sa Abu Dhabi po iyon po ang aming information at the moment," she said in a virtual press briefing.

The diplomat also appealed to Filipinos in the UAE to observe COVID-19 precautionary measures as she assured them of the Philippine government's assistance. "Ako po ay nag-aapela na patuloy na mag-ingat, siguro dapat eh lalo pa nating pagbutihin ang ating pag-obserba ng mga sinabi sa ating guidelines dito para tayo ay hindi magkasakit. At makakaasa kayo na lagi naman tayong tutulong kung anuman ang pangangailangan," she said.

Worldwide, there are 1,867 Filipinos abroad who have contracted COVID-19 as of Tuesday according to the Department of Foreign Affairs. This includes 214 deaths, and 513 recoveries.
