1,645 Filipino workers in Qatar displaced due to COVID19 crisis: envoy

MANILA- A total of 1,645 Filipino workers in Qatar were displaced due to the coronavirus crisis, Philippine Ambassador Alan Timbayan said Tuesday.

Another 4,055 overseas Filipino workers were meanwhile required to go on forced leave, a policy that is legal, the envoy said.The diplomat also appealed to Filipino workers in Qatar to follow pandemic policies implemented by the Middle Eastern country as he assured them that the embassy is ready to respond to their concerns.

With many displaced Filipino workers abroad, the Department of Foreign Affairs has been assisting those who want to return to the Philippines in light of the pandemic.
