Volvo Cars ushers in a new era with the introduction of its all-electric, 7-seater EX90 SUV. The EX90 aims not just to raise the standards in safety, but in sustainability as well.
In typical Volvo fashion, the EX90 is headlined by the latest safety innovation from the company. The brand-new SPA2 platform contains cameras, radars, and lidars connected to a high-performance NVIDIA Drive computer running Volvo’s in-house software. It’s future-proof in that the hardware is ready for autonomous driving with just a software update. For now, though it can change lanes autonomously on the highway.
Powered by a new, in-house developed fully-electric drivetrain, the EX90 comes available in three configurations all with a twin-motor set-up. Power outputs start at 408 horsepower for the EV, 503 horsepower for the E2, and goes up to 517 horsepower for the EE. Maximum torque, meanwhile starts at a stout 770 Nm for the EV and goes up to 910 Nm for the E2 and EE. This gives it a 0 to 100 km/h from 5.9 to 4.9 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 180 km/h.
