The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday, March 20, reported that two more overseas Filipinos succumbed to the deadly coronavirus disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,047.
The number of foreign-based Filipinos who have contracted COVID-19 is now at 15,967, as 19 new positive cases were also recorded.
Among the confirmed COVID-19 cases, 5,229 are undergoing treatment, while total recoveries or Filipino patients discharged from hospital overseas stood at 9,691.“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries saw a slight increase to 60.69 percent, those under treatment decreased to 32.75 percent, while fatality rate remain at 6.56 percent,” it said.
Of the 89 countries or territories that have registered COVID-19 cases involving Filipinos, most are in Middle East and Africa with 8,882 cases, followed by Europe, 3,208; Asia Pacific, 2,987; and Americas, 890. In the Philippines, 656,056 have been infected, with 7,999 new cases reported on Saturday, the highest recorded daily tally since the outbreak in March 2020.
