168 new Covid cases logged; 24 labs unable to submit data

THE Department of Health reported on Tuesday, December 21, about 168 fresh coronavirus disease cases, bringing the country’s total tally to 2,837,719.

The DOH said the numbers were low since four laboratories were non-operational on December 19, while 20 laboratories were unable to submit their report to the Covid-19 document repository system. “Base sa datos sa nakaraang 14 na araw, ang kontribusyon ng 24 labs na ito ay humigit kumulang 4.8 percent sa lahat ng samples na naitest at 4.5 percent sa lahat ng positibong mga indibidwal,” the DOH said. The DOH also recorded 10 new Covid-19 deaths, bringing the total to 50,794 or 1.79 percent of all the recorded infections.

It said six of the new deaths occurred in December 2021, two in November, one in August, and one in May and was reported only now due to late encoding of death information to CovidKaya. The DOH report also showed the 22 percent intensive care unit occupancy and 11 percent mechanical ventilators utilization.
