A street fight involving around 10 minors broke out near a church in Caloocan early Wednesday morning. The brawl, allegedly fueled by alcohol, escalated into a physical altercation and resulted in minor injuries.
Around 10 minors were involved in a brawl near a church in Caloocan early Wednesday morning. According to the Barangay 13 officials, the street fight broke out on A. Mabini Street and eventually escalated into a physical altercation. “During Simbang Gabi, while we were on duty, a group approached us. We thought they were familiar with each other, but suddenly there was a confrontation. Things happened so fast.
There was a sudden fight, they started pushing each other,” said Barangay Captain Edgardo Reyes Jr. Barangay tanods and police officers promptly intervened and brought the minors to the barangay hall. Two of them were handcuffed but still seemed to be arguing as they walked. Even inside the barangay hall, the tension was still high and they couldn’t be pacified. It is said that the minors involved in the brawl had consumed alcohol. “They came from a birthday party and met there. One of the teenagers involved in the fight had a cut on his head. It seemed like they were slapping, punching, and pulling each other. They didn’t have any weapons that could cause serious harm or death,” said Barangay Councilor Joseph Guinto. Two motorcycles parked near the church were also involved in the incident. “Because of the crowd, the two parked motorcycles were bumped. The two motorcycles fell over. They weren’t damaged, just fell,” said Guinto. However, responding Barangay Tanod Julius Nocum said the teenagers didn’t first fight on the street. “They first met on the road here. They were stopped and separated. They then waited for each other on A. Mabini Street. It was a continuation of the fight. They were drinking, so things escalated and they ended up hurting each other,” said Nocum. He added that some of the minors involved in the brawl were from outside Caloocan. The cause of the street fight was a dispute between friends
