In an initial report, police said the prisoners worked together in destroying the iron fence of the main facility.The escape happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Malibay Detention Facility in Barangay 152.
The escapees were identified as Richard Dela Cruz, Carlo Magno Legazpi Benavidez, Christian Samson Salvatierra, Norman Punzalan Deyta, Joey Gabriel Hernandez and Eden Rodriguez Garcia who were also facing charges for illegal drugs; Tirzo Navarro Galit, Romeo Marasigan Estopa and Joshua Panganiban who were detained for robbery; and John Michael Medellin Cabe, who is facing carnapping charges.
