'The acquisition of the MRFs is part of the military modernization project's Horizon-2 phase.The PAF has 50 FA50 fighter jets and plans to buy an upgraded version.MRFs are bigger, more lethal and faster than ordinary jet fighters, Brawner said.In 2021, the US approved the sale of at least 10 F-16s to the Philippines. The deal fell through because of budget constraints.The Swedish government had offered its multi-role fighter SAAB JS39 Gripen, but negotiations have stalled.
