Has the partial closure of the EDSA-Kamuning Flyover southbound caused you any headaches yet? If you usually pass by the area on two wheels, prepare for even more headaches.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has just announced that effective Friday, May 3, 2024, motorcycles will no longer be allowed on the southbound side of the EDSA-Kamuning service road. Riders will have to take alternate routes like Scout Borromeo, Panay Avenue, Mother Ignacia Avenue, and Scout Albano.
According to MMDA acting chairman Atty. Don Artes, the move is intended to lessen traffic on the service road. The MMDA Traffic Engineering Center’s data showed that 24,000 four-wheelers and 23,000 two-wheelers traverse the southbound portion of the flyover daily. The MMDA will also ensure that all alternate routes will be cleared to enable a smoother flow of traffic in those areas. More traffic enforcers will also be deployed to manage vehicular flow and guide motorists, and signage to alternate routes will also be put up.
The EDSA-Kamuning Flyover southbound will be closed for six months to make way for structural repairs. The MMDA has previously provided alternate routes that motorists can take—you can refer to this article for more on that.
