Regardless of the vehicle’s country of origin

The 2GO Group has just announced that it will stop carrying EVs and HEVs on its ships. As reported by CarGuide.ph, the logistics company made this decision to prioritize the safety of its passengers, crew, and vessels, stating that there are “heightened global safety concerns surrounding EV and hybrid battery-related incidents.”

While the company did mark its restriction on NEVs as ‘temporary,’ there is no indication of when electrified vehicles will be allowed back on 2GO ships. It looks like drivers who are planning to board their NEV onto a 2GO roll-on, roll-off ship will need to find another way to get their vehicles to their destinations.A new BYD has arrived: Sealion 5 DM-i launches in PH with P1.

2GO ships going to and from Manila, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, and Cebu were retrofitted with EV chargers, as those locations were deemed as hubs for EV distribution. Considering that select ships made several weekly trips to these locations, we can likely expect some slowdown in EV deliveries to key urban areas.

At the time of writing, no other logistics companies have announced any decision to restrict the transportation of NEVs.See Also Read Next NLEX to waive toll fees on NB plazas from Balintawak to Meycauayan today View other articles about:
