Here are today\u0027s Ottawa Sun letters to the editor.

The so-called Toronto Maple Leaf fans who changed the channel and stopped watching the game Monday night after the Leafs were down 4-1 to Tampa Bay should be ashamed of themselves.

We all know that if the score were reversed and the Leafs were up 4-1, we would all have continued watching, hoping and praying the inevitable famous Leaf collapse didn’t occur.I don’t expect to see any of you at the parade — you don’t deserve to be there.

Whatever the news media may be, they are not “just the messenger,” nor are they but a reflection of the community — or their consumership, for that matter — in which they circulate. The more politicians can’t come up with a solution to a problem, the dumber the decisions are that they make. The need for more police is one thing, but they haven’t even figured out the nurses and doctors shortage and burnout yet.

When the police, like the military, are expected to put their lives on the line and they don’t feel the leaders have their backs, it’s not something you want to do. If the system just punished criminals instead of releasing them, we wouldn’t need to increase the police that much, so deal with the justice system first.
