A freelance woman DJ, who used someone else’s MyKad to board a flight from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu, was fined RM5,000 or six months jail on Friday.
Hawatia Husaini, 27, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having a MyKad which belonged to Vivian Pius at 5.20pm on June 14 at Gate A7, Arrival Hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here.The court was informed by the prosecution that Hawatia, who had just disembarked from the Tawau flight, was arrested by police after a tip-off. Hawatia admitted using the MyKad which she obtained from a friend and used it to purchase a flight ticket from Tawau to here.
Hawatia also admitted that she did not have a valid document and gave her birth certificate number and claimed that she was born in Sarawak and claimed that she had not obtained a MyKad as she is facing a problem with the National Registration Department.Police investigations also revealed that the said MyKad was once reported missing in 2022 in Penampang. Hawatia was ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after paying the fine or serve the sentence.
