KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu City Hall has appointed a contractor to handle the waste collection at housing and commercial areas in Inanam, Manggatal and Telipok-Sepanggar zones.

In a statement on Thursday , City Hall director-general Junainah Abbie said the company, EC Green Cycle Sdn Bhd, has started taking over the services in phases since Wednesday and will be fully operating them from Oct 1.

“This contract service is meant to improve the quality of collection service of solid waste and at the same time overcome the critical issue involving garbage disposal, while gearing towards City Hall’s mission to turn Kota Kinabalu into a clean, green and liveable city. “In total, 360 areas will be taken over by the company, namely 108 housing areas and 253 commercial areas, including apartments and condominiums,” she said in the statement.
