The law does not prohibit two national post candidates from two different political parties to be a tandem, the Commission on Election said on Saturday, Nov. 13.
In a tweet, Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said that these two candidates can even campaign and endorse each other. On Saturday, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte formalized her vice presidential bid after substituting for Lryle Fernando Uy who filed her certificate of candidacy for Vice President on Oct. 8 who was reportedly a “placeholder” for the Davao mayor under Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
This move even more ignited a much speculated tandem between former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who is gunning a presidential seat in the 2022 elections.
